This 3-day desert tour offers an incredible blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and authentic Berber experiences, making it the perfect way to explore the heart of Morocco.
Your adventure begins as we pick you up from your accommodation at 8:00 a.m. and embark on a scenic journey toward the Sahara Desert. Our route takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains, offering stunning views and a glimpse into the traditional Berber lifestyle.
Our first stop is in Ifrane, a charming town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture and winter ski resorts. We then pass through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you may have the chance to see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Midway through our journey, we stop in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by a picturesque mountain backdrop.
As we continue south, the landscape transitions into the arid beauty of the Ziz Valley, leading us to Erfoud, a city famous for its rich fossil deposits and as the gateway to the desert. From here, we proceed to Merzouga, where an unforgettable experience awaits—a camel trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
As the sun sets, painting the dunes in shades of orange and gold, we ride through the desert to reach our luxury bivouac camp. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed with traditional mint tea, followed by a delicious Berber dinner prepared from fresh, local ingredients. The evening is yours to enjoy—whether relaxing under a blanket of stars, listening to traditional Berber music.
The day begins with a mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes, an experience not to be missed. You will have time to freshen up with a shower and enjoy an open-air breakfast overlooking the dunes.
Leaving Merzouga behind, we head toward Rissani, the ancient capital of the Alaouite dynasty and home to one of the most authentic souks (markets) in Morocco. We then continue our journey to Erfoud, where we will visit a local fossil workshop, showcasing millions of years of geological history.
Driving through vast palm groves and traditional Berber villages, we reach the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon with towering rock walls that soar up to 300 meters high. Here, we take a leisurely walk through the gorge, surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and the tranquil Todra River.
In the afternoon, we continue toward Boumalne Dades, passing by majestic rock formations and the stunning landscapes of the Dades Valley. Before arriving at our accommodation, we make a stop to admire the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and enjoy the panoramic views of the Dades Gorges Road, known for its winding curves and spectacular scenery.
After breakfast, we begin our journey toward Marrakech, passing through some of Morocco’s most scenic and culturally rich regions.
Our first stop is El Kelaa M’Gouna, famously known as the Valley of Roses, where the fragrant Damask roses are harvested to create high-quality rosewater and perfumes. We then follow the legendary “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”, a historic route lined with ancient fortresses and Berber villages.
Our next destination is Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa”, due to its role as a major film production hub. Here, we visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, a former stronghold of the Glaoui dynasty, before proceeding to the most famous kasbah in Morocco: Ait Benhaddou.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Benhaddou is an extraordinary fortified village made of mud-brick buildings that have stood for centuries. This iconic kasbah has been featured in numerous films, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. We will explore its narrow alleyways and climb to the top of the ksar, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Ounila Valley. A traditional lunch with a view will be served here before we continue our journey.
In the afternoon, we embark on a scenic drive through the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest mountain pass in Morocco, offering spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains and Berber villages along the way. We will also stop to visit an Argan oil cooperative, where you can learn about the traditional production of this renowned Moroccan product.
As we descend from the mountains, we approach our final destination—Marrakech, the vibrant “Red City”. Upon arrival, we will drop you off at your preferred location, whether it be a riad, hotel, or the airport, marking the end of an unforgettable desert adventure.
